http://www.danmarcotteairshows.com/ Dan Marcotte is a racing and aviation enthusiast from Bakersfield, Vermont. His love of motor sports began at a young age on the dirt roads of his hometown in rural northwestern Vermont where he would race dirt bikes, motorcycles, and cars for the sheer fun of it with his childhood friends. In the late 1990's Dan took a job at the Franklin County State Airport FBO. A welder and metal fabricator by trade, he was a welcomed addition to the local aviation community—who found his skills and talents particularly suited to repairing, rebuilding, and customizing experimental aircraft. In 2003 with less than one year and 80 hours of flying time on a private pilot's license Dan raced in the National Championship Air Races in Reno, Nevada to a 4th Place Finish in his Formula One Cassutt IIIM monoplane. On his way back from Reno he competed in his first International Aerobatic Contest and placed 2nd. Dan has been flying International Aerobatic Contests and Air Shows around New England and Canada since ever since. The Biplane that Dan is flying today is called the Ultimate 10-200 Biplane. Designed by Gordon Price, the Ultimate is a unique biplane. It's four full span ailerons provide a 400 degree per second roll rate. It also utilizes an aileron/elevator interconnect system that produces unique low speed flight characteristics. Dan is entering his maneuvers at speeds of up to 250 MPH. Stressed for +/- 10 Gs, Dan operates the airplane at G loads of up to plus 7 and minus 6 G's. At plus 7 G's Dan's body is 7 times his normal weight or nearly 1200 pounds. At minus 5 G's Dan is being pulled outward at a force of nearly 1000 pounds. He is held in the cockpit by a 7-point Hooker harness, 4 lap belts, one set with the equivalent of a cargo ratchet strap used to cinch him into the seat. Dan's generous sponsors include Goodyear Aviation, Hooker Harness, Combustion Technologies, Sky Dynamics, Crankcase Servies, Inc., Don George Aircraft Engines & Parts, and VedaloHD.
